A teenage girl leaves her home and starts walking. She does not sleep. She does not eat or drink. She does not communicate in any way. She also does not stop, for anything. Soon, she is joined by others equally silent and equally unstoppable. A disgraced scientist is among those who try to understand what’s going on, as well as those with much darker intentions.

Oh man, I read it this year and I loved it. It has become one of my all time favorites. SciFi, pandemic, end of the world, AI, etc. I also want the sequel now.
I hope you feel better.
Thanks for the recommendation. I am reading it now, about 80% done. I am enjoying it, though I have to say that this book, like most, could use a good editor, it is probably 15% longer than it has to be. That said, I am impressed that the author is able both to keep several story lines going independently, fold them into each other, and keep the suspense. He also does a good job of crafting strong characters and developing them over the length of the book.
